Alfa Romeo Spider 2.0

The Italians proudly named it «Aerodinamica» upon its introduction in 1983, while in this country, the spoiler became the nickname for the entire model. The agile Spider was disparagingly called «rubber lip.» The last work of Pininfarina was an attempt to prevent the extinction of convertibles as cost-effectively as possible.

Despite the harsh criticism regarding its appearance, the Alfa sold better than ever in Europe. The reason? Pure driving pleasure. The Spider was new, but its sporty heart remained entirely the same. The front-mounted twin-cam engine with two double carburetors, which the Italians call «Bialbero,» rumbles its way through the ears into the hearts of the driver and passersby. Unadulterated and without a catalytic converter, the two-liter engine, with its official 127 horsepower, pulls through the mid-range of the RPMs until 1986.

The roof opens surprisingly quickly, and this car truly gives you a convertible feeling. You're really outdoors and not under the windshield like with modern convertibles. Caution is advised when it's wet, because the solid rear axle then likes to get a mind of its own.

The Alfa offered here comes technically flawless and with a fresh inspection. It has been with its current owner for over 20 years and has only been driven occasionally. The mileage of just under 35,000 is original and can easily be verified by the original documents and the original service booklet. The Spider is fresh from its veteran inspection and drives wonderfully. The paint has suffered a little due to the long period of standing and deserves a polish. This can gladly be done upon sale.

A smaller wood steering wheel is currently installed for the taller driver. The original wood steering wheel, along with the spoke hubcaps, is located in the trunk of the car.
