Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited

Description

This 2016 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited is happy to show off its proud all-black dimensions on any terrain. Thanks to some slight and of course registered modifications, it stands out from the standard Rubicon and remains a luxuriously equipped and family-friendly off-roader despite the evil eye. With only 4,000 kilometers on the clock, this Jeep has passed to its second owner, who has maintained and cared for it impeccably to this day. The paintwork and bodywork are in excellent condition and even the clearly visible underbody has nothing to hide thanks to its exclusive use on paved roads.

Freshly refurbished and ready for the MFK, the car is now looking forward to its third owner, who will hopefully continue to take such good care of it and possibly also share the odd off-road adventure with it. Receipts and invoices for the modifications are of course available.

Model history

The growing market for compact 4×4 vehicles was still asking for the practical advantages of the Jeep CJ series, but customers were looking for more comfort, as offered by passenger cars. The answer was the end of the CJ series and the introduction of the Jeep Wrangler (YJ).

Although the Wrangler used the familiar open body shape of the CJ-7, it still contained only a few components of its famous predecessor. Mechanically, the Wrangler had more in common with the Cherokee than with the CJ-7. One new feature was the first - and so far last - angular headlights on a Jeep of this type. The YJ model was built more than 630,000 times.

On August 5, 1987, about a year after the Wrangler was introduced, Chrysler Corporation purchased American Motors Corporation (AMC) and the well-known Jeep brand became part of Chrysler's Jeep/Eagle division.

The Jeep Wrangler (TJ) made its debut in 1997 with a very similar look to the CJ-7 - again with round headlights. Retro style was intended in the design, but not in the technology. Almost 80 percent of all parts were redesigned. The TJ had a modern four-link coil spring suspension similar to that of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and a new interior with airbags for the driver and front passenger. However, the TJ retained the decisive classic Jeep trademarks such as the round headlights, the windshield that had been hinged since 1941, the removable doors and the choice between a soft or removable hardtop.

This sure instinct for necessary technical innovations on the one hand and preservation of the design character with careful modernization on the other laid the foundation for the overwhelming success of the Jeep classic to this day. No other manufacturer has been able to successfully maintain its brand icon on the market for as long as Jeep.

In 2003, the TJ also set the starting point for the best-equipped Jeep ever - the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon. The Wrangler Rubicon earned its right to bear the legendary name of one of the most difficult off-road routes in the world with electrically activated locks in the Dana 44 axles at the front and rear, the transfer gearbox with 4.0 off-road reduction, 32-inch tires and other equipment that was not available for any Jeep ex works until then.

In 2004, Jeep introduced the Wrangler Unlimited. With a longer wheelbase, 33 centimeters more luggage space and five centimeters more foot space in the rear, it offered more utility value with unchanged 4×4 capability and open-air options.

Based on the successful Jeep Wrangler formula (as much technical modernization as possible and as careful design changes as necessary) and a completely new frame, with new bodywork, new interior, new engines and safety and comfort features, the JK offers more capability, value, space and comfort, open-air fun, power, fuel efficiency and safety than any Wrangler before it.

Although once again recognizable as a Jeep Wrangler at first glance, this time the JK takes the Jeep Wrangler experience to a new dimension: as the Unlimited model version with four doors for the first time and space for five adults as well as the largest luggage compartment a Wrangler has ever had, the Wrangler Unlimited combined its leading off-road capabilities with everyday practicality. With the Unlimited, the Jeep Wrangler finally became a worldwide bestseller and all-rounder for leisure, adventure and at the same time family transportation and travel in comfort. All this makes the Wrangler Unlimited unique in the world - and the only four-door series convertible in the world.

For the 2011 model year, all Wranglers received a new interior and the Sahara models a higher-quality hardtop in body color.

In addition to the familiar Rubicon equipment, the Rubicon models also available for the JK have an electrically decouplable front anti-roll bar for even more axle articulation off-road.
