Buick Skylark Convertible
Description
Style, luxury and the beautiful sound of its V8 characterize the Buick Skylark. This special Bieler specimen also boasts a complete history, which was written down in 2019 as part of an in-depth study for vehicle restorers. It is now in third hand and is still driven when the weather is right. The car is in excellent condition both visually and technically and runs like clockwork despite its matching numbers.
The reason for this is the extensive complete overhaul of the engine, gearbox and suspension that the car underwent almost 17,000 kilometers ago. Receipts for this and other documents dating back to 1965 are available.
A reliable sixties convertible with style to suit every occasion. The car was last presented as a veteran in May 2023 and is now, after 37 years in the same ownership, to change stables.

Model history
The Buick Skylark embodies luxury, style and performance within the Buick product range. Its story begins in 1953 when Buick introduced the Skylark as a limited edition convertible. Named after a bird known for its beautiful song, the Skylark was intended to delight enthusiasts with its unique blend of design and features.
The first Skylark of 1953 was based on the Buick Special model, but featured distinctive styling elements that set it apart from other models. With its lower profile, shortened doors and lavish interior, the Skylark exuded exclusivity. The early Skylarks were powered by a powerful 322 cui V8 that offered both performance and refinement.
The Skylark was originally intended as a concept car to celebrate Buick's 50th anniversary. However, due to overwhelming demand and positive feedback, Buick decided to produce a limited edition of 1,690 units for the 1953 model year. This exclusivity contributed to the appeal of the Skylark and makes it a coveted collector's item today.
The second generation of the Skylark came onto the market in 1961. These Skylarks were available as a convertible, coupe and sedan, which made the model even more attractive. Stylistically, the 1961 Skylarks featured a more integrated design with cleaner lines and a modernized aesthetic that was well received by buyers.
The year 1962 marked a significant milestone with the introduction of the Skylark Gran Sport (GS), signaling Buick's entry into the performance segment. The GS package enhanced the Skylark's capabilities with a larger, more powerful engine and performance-oriented improvements to the suspension and handling. It underscored Buick's commitment to combining luxury and performance.
Over the course of the 1960s, Buick continued to refine the Skylark. For the 1963 model year, the Skylark was redesigned and given a more angular look. It became slightly larger and offered a range of V8 engines.
By the 1965 model year, the Skylark had firmly established itself as a stylish and capable mid-size model in the Buick lineup. Its success paved the way for future versions and demonstrated Buick's ability to adapt to changing automotive trends while remaining true to the Skylark's core values of luxury, performance and sophistication. Subsequent generations built on this legacy and ensured that the Skylark remained an icon in Buick's history.
