Audi RS4 Avant Quattro Stage 2
Description
Everyone knows it: the legendary Audi RS4 of the B5 series and the über-youngtimer par excellence. This example comes with everything the B5 had to offer as equipment. Including the original carbon interior, Navigation Plus and the telephone in the armrest, which still works. We are happy to supply the complete equipment on request.
As the full equipment was still too «standard» for the previous owner, the RS4 was handed over to the well-known Swiss tuner Sportec. This company gave the car a Stage 2 performance upgrade to a measured 440 hp. This also includes the currently installed Sportec exhaust system, whereby the extremely rare original is included with the car. For even better road holding, a coilover suspension was also installed. If the white rims are not to your taste, a set of black Corniche rims with tires is also available.
At 180,000 km, both turbos were replaced and in the fall of 2023, the car received completely new rear brakes including calipers. In addition, fresh diff oil, a new lambda sensor, new wishbones including bearings (typical weak point of all B5s) and new Michelin P4 tires. The last major service was 2,500 km ago, when various hoses, the timing belt and the water pump were replaced.
The sports suit shows signs of use commensurate with its age and mileage, but is perfectly maintained in the hall and is longing for someone to let it thunder regularly over our roads.
You can find a video of the RS4 at the bottom of this page.

Model history
The Audi RS4 (B5) was presented to the world public in 1999. As the successor to the legendary Audi RS2, it combined the characteristics of a family station wagon with those of a sports car. This concept was still unrivaled when the RS4 was launched and was only later to be joined by adequate alternatives from Mercedes-Benz and BMW.
Production of the vehicle was taken over by quattro GmbH (now Audi Sport GmbH), which focused on the individualization of various Audi models in order to appeal to a more exclusive clientele. The Audi A4 large-series station wagon also underwent some far-reaching changes.
The wheel arches were widened by 35 mm to accommodate a larger wheel/tyre combination and the front and rear bumpers were adapted to the wider fenders. At the front, these were fitted with enlarged air intakes for the intercoolers and brake cooling. Thanks to the sports suspension, the body was lowered by 20 mm and the tried-and-tested 4-link suspension was also used again on the RS.
The V6 engine of the Audi RS4 was taken from the S4 and further developed with the help of the English sports engine manufacturer Cosworth. The 2.7 liter 90° V6 engine was equipped with two larger turbochargers and corresponding intercoolers. The light alloy cylinder heads were upgraded by optimizing the flow and increasing the cross-section. The exhaust system was also modified and adapted to the increased flow rate. The control unit was also adapted accordingly so that the high-bred engine could also work smoothly.
The sum of all measures resulted in a first-class sports engine. The brute engine power of 380 hp was backed up by an equally impressive torque of 440 Nm. In combination with the outstanding Quattro drive, the estate delivered sports car-level performance. As a result, demand for the vehicle was so high that Audi ultimately doubled the planned number of units. However, production of the vehicle was discontinued after just over two years. The successor was given a new drive concept with a high-revving 8-cylinder engine.
In the two model years, 6030 units of the RS4 B5 were built.
