Corvette C6 Z06 Ron Fellows

Description

Those who believe collector cars must always be old, rusty, and tame haven't experienced this Corvette: the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Ron Fellows Edition is a modern classic – loud, rare, and quite uncompromising. Only 399 examples were produced worldwide, with 300 for the USA, 33 for Canada, and 66 for export – and this one proudly bears number 125 alongside a hand-signed signature.

It was delivered with the legendary 7.0-liter V8 LS7 engine, which produces a measured 525 horsepower at the rear axle in this vehicle. No turbo, no frills – just pure, American naturally aspirated engine drama, paired with a tight 6-speed manual transmission. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h? In under 4 seconds, accompanied by goosebumps and a deep rumble that sounds more like thunder than an engine running.

The ALMS GT1 Championship Edition is a tribute to racer Ron Fellows and his outstanding achievements in the American Le Mans Series Championships from 2001 to 2006. The special edition features an Arctic White paint scheme with Monterey Red Metallic fender stripes, symbolizing Fellows‘ Canadian roots and Corvette Racing's six GT1 Manufacturer Championships. The interior of each Ron Fellows Edition Z06 featured two-tone Ebony and Red leather, accented by Fellows‘ signature on the inner lid of the center console.

The previous owner felt the full equipment was not enough and had the car further optimized: The rear window was tinted inside and out, the gear shifts were shortened (original parts available), the wheel spacers were registered, and the seat cushions were reinforced on the outside, ensuring optimal support in the supercar. In addition, the original flap control can now be operated manually.

This example has been carefully and enthusiastically driven, is accident-free, original, and with a complete history. Not a show car for the display case, but a muscle car for connoisseurs who want a piece of real motorsport DNA in their garage.

Interesting: For the 2007 model year, the color Arctic White was exclusively available for the 399 Ron Fellows Editions.

Model history

The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Ron Fellows Championship Edition was introduced in 2007 as a limited special edition of the C6 Z06 – a tribute to the successful Canadian race car driver Ron Fellows, who achieved multiple victories for Corvette Racing in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and in endurance classics like Le Mans.

The C6-generation Z06 (built 2006–2013) was already a high-performance vehicle from the factory, significantly more uncompromising than the base Corvette. At its heart was the 7.0-liter LS7 naturally aspirated V8 engine, handcrafted at the GM Performance Build Center. It officially produced 505 hp (512 PS) at 6,300 rpm, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated engine in a production Chevy to date. Paired with a dry-sump lubrication system, lightweight titanium connecting rods, and sodium-cooled valves, the LS7 was a true motorsport engine for the road.

The Z06 also differed significantly in its structure from the standard Corvette: aluminum frame instead of steel, magnesium elements, carbon fenders, and a special chassis with Bilstein shock absorbers, a differential lock, and performance tires. Despite the V8 power, the curb weight was around 1,420 kg – a top value for this performance class.

The Ron Fellows Edition was produced in a strictly limited quantity in 2007: 399 vehicles worldwide, with 300 for the US market, 33 for Canada, and 66 for export. All vehicles were painted Arctic White – a shade otherwise unavailable for the Z06. The edition was additionally equipped with red racing stripes, signature badging, a numbered plaque, and red interior accents. The seats featured special embroidery, while the console was finished in red leather.

Ron Fellows himself was closely involved in the planning of the special edition and signed the vehicles. To this day, the special edition is the first official Corvette special series named after an active race car driver. It reflects Chevrolet's close connection to the racetrack and underscores the role of the Z06 as a „track car for the road.“.

Technically, all Z06 Edition models remained unchanged – which was not a disadvantage: With a top speed of around 320 km/h, an active handling package, and race-inspired technology, the Ron Fellows Z06 remains one of the most sought-after collector's models of the C6 era to this day.
