Porsche 928 S4
Description
There are Porsches that live on nervousness, revs, and attack – and there are Porsches that drive like a promise. The 928 belongs to the second category: it's a Gran Turismo, built for long distances, high speeds, and that special feeling when performance doesn't shout, but carries you sovereignly. It's not the loudest Porsche – but often the one that stays in your mind the longest.
This 1988 example sports the rare original color Venezia Blue Metallic – a shade that shifts between cool elegance and a deep, almost fluid presence depending on the light. Inside, ivory leather greets you, bright and noble, and precisely for that reason, it's so fitting: the 928 was always also a luxury Porsche – not for show, but for atmosphere. Here, everything feels poured from a single mold: outside, a mature, timeless line; inside, an interior that invites you to travel yet remains sporty.
With 144,314 kilometers, the car is used but very well-maintained. It's a garage vehicle that was born as a second car. The Porsche V8 effortlessly handles the kilometers driven and looks forward to many more. The leather shows some age, but it's nothing a good detailing couldn't fix. The paint is in exceptionally good condition for its age.
This very honesty makes it credible: not an over-polished object, no tinkering, but a classic that has been cared for and is ready to continue writing stories. And this is precisely where the emotion arises: the 928 is not a car for „quick trips around the block.“ It's a car for the moment when you realize the road can be allowed to get longer.

Model history
The Porsche 928 is one of the boldest steps Porsche has ever taken. Produced from 1977, it was conceived as a 2+2 coupe with a front engine and rear-wheel drive—a deliberate departure from Porsche's traditional rear-engine layout. The goal was a car that combined sports car genes with luxury and long-distance capabilities: a grand tourer with genuine Porsche DNA, but a different philosophy.
The names behind the project are also noteworthy. In contemporary reviews, the design of the 928 is attributed to designer Wolfgang Möbius, created under the then Porsche head of design, Anatole „Tony“ Lapine. This also explains its distinctive design language: the 928 was not intended to look like a „big 911,“ but rather like a look to the future – softly sculpted, aerodynamic, and timeless.
On the technical side, the 928 was also revolutionary. Porsche opted for the transaxle principle: the engine is at the front, the gearbox at the rear axle, connected by a rigid shaft in the center tunnel. This architecture serves weight distribution and ensures high stability at speed – exactly what a Gran Turismo needs. Porsche explicitly describes the transaxle models as a new, defining era.
Even more important for the driving experience was a development that is still considered a milestone today: the Weissach axle. Porsche itself describes that the 928 revolutionized the world of chassis with it – not to make it „faster“ at the limit, but safer and easier to control, especially when lifting off the throttle in corners (lift-off stability). This solution is not just technical history, but a tangible emotion: it makes the 928 a car that inspires confidence and can therefore be driven quickly without appearing hectic.
The 928 was recognized early for its conceptual strength: as a sports car, it won the title of European Car of the Year in 1978 – an award that is very rarely given to vehicles in this category. Over the years, the model series evolved through numerous variations, both technically and in terms of performance. However, regardless of the specific model version, one thing remains crucial: the 928 is not a „pure sports car“ nor a „pure luxury car,“ but a very special hybrid – a high-speed coupe that emphasizes long-distance capability, stability, and refined performance.
The 928 holds a unique position in the Porsche cosmos today. It's the choice for people who don't want to take the obvious path, but the one that has character.
