In elegantem Weiss gehalten, kombiniert er Understatement mit brachialer Leistung und z\u00e4hlt heute zu den begehrtesten US-Performance-Fahrzeugen seiner Zeit. Der Typhoon war seiner \u00c4ra weit voraus und gilt als Urvater aller modernen Performance-SUVs.<\/p><p>Unter der Haube arbeitet der legend\u00e4re 4.3 Liter V6 Turbomotor, basierend auf dem Chevrolet Small-Block, hier mit Ladeluftk\u00fchler und Allradantrieb kombiniert. Das Aggregat wurde speziell f\u00fcr eine leistungsorientierte Zwangsbeatmung konzipiert. Das Resultat: Beeindruckende Beschleunigungswerte, ein massiver Drehmomentanstieg aus dem Keller und ein Sound, der tief, kernig und unverkennbar amerikanisch ist. Das 4-Gang-Automatikgetriebe schaltet souver\u00e4n und passt perfekt zum Charakter des Wagens.<\/p><p>Mit einer Beschleunigung von 0 &#8211; 100 km\/h in rund 5.3 Sekunden war er schneller als viele Ikonen seiner Zeit und stellte die automobile Hackordnung auf den Kopf. Zum Vergleich:<\/p><ul><li>Ferrari 348 TB: approx. 5.6 seconds<\/li><li>Porsche 911 (964) Carrera 2: approx. 5.7 seconds<\/li><li>Chevrolet Corvette C4: approx. 5.9 seconds<\/li><li>BMW M5 E34 (3.8): approx. 5.9 seconds<\/li><\/ul><p>Und all das schaffte der Typhoon mit Automatik, Allradantrieb und Platz f\u00fcr Gep\u00e4ck \u2013 eine Kombination, die es bis dahin schlicht nicht gab. W\u00e4hrend Supersportwagen bei N\u00e4sse oder K\u00e4lte M\u00fche hatten, setzte der Typhoon seine Leistung kompromisslos auf die Strasse um.<\/p><p>Der gef\u00fcrchtete und respektierte Typhoon pr\u00e4sentiert sich in gepflegtem, gebrauchtem Zustand, ist technisch einwandfrei und fahrbereit. Innen sportlich, dunkel und funktional, aussen bullig und kompakt &#8211; genau diese Mischung machte ihn damals zur Sensation. Er f\u00e4hrt sich auch heute noch erstaunlich modern, unvergleichbar druckvoll und stabil. F\u00fcr angemessenen Sound im Innern sorgt ein neues DAB-Radio mit Bluetooth. Die LED-Scheinwerfer wurden f\u00fcr die etwas aggressivere Optik nachger\u00fcstet, die Originalteile sind vorhanden und funktionsf\u00e4hig.<\/p><p>Wartungen hat er keine verpasst und ausgef\u00fchrt wurden sie ausnahmslos vom Schweizer Typhoon-Papst, der Garage Blaas in Dietikon. Der Unterboden ist sauber und das Turbo-Wunder kommt frisch grossem Service, bei dem ihm ein neuer Alternator, eine neue Batterie und neue Winterreifen auf den Originalfelgen verpasst wurden.<\/p><p>Sollte die weisse Farbe nicht passen, w\u00e4re auch noch ein schwarzes Exemplar zu haben, welches sich in einem hervorragenden Zustand befindet.<\/p><p>Ein relativ grossz\u00fcgiges Lager an Ersatzteilen, original wie aftermarket, w\u00e4re nach Absprache verf\u00fcgbar und auch eine frische MFK kann besprochen werden.<\/p><p>Das ist Fahrzeug f\u00fcr Kenner, Sammler und US-Car-Enthusiasten, die etwas wirklich Besonderes suchen. Der GMC Typhoon ist kein Trendfahrzeug &#8211; er ist ein Meilenstein. vorstellte, verstand die Autowelt zun\u00e4chst nicht, was hier gerade passierte. Ein kompakter SUV, tiefergelegt, mit Turboaufladung, Allradantrieb und Sportwagen-\u00e4hnlichen Fahrleistungen? In einer Zeit, in der SUVs vor allem Nutzfahrzeuge waren, wirkte der Typhoon wie ein Fremdk\u00f6rper \u2013 und genau das machte ihn legend\u00e4r.<\/p><p>Technisch basierte der Typhoon auf dem GMC Jimmy, wurde jedoch von PAS (Production Automotive Services) in enger Zusammenarbeit mit GMC umfassend \u00fcberarbeitet. Herzst\u00fcck war der 4.3 Liter V6 (Code LB4), der mit einem Mitsubishi-Turbolader, einem wassergek\u00fchltem Ladeluftk\u00fchler aus dem Hause Garrett und verst\u00e4rkten Innereien auf rund 280 PS und 490 Nm gebracht wurde \u2013 Zahlen, die Anfang der 90er selbst viele Sportwagen alt aussehen liessen.<\/p><p>Der permanente Allradantrieb mit 35:65-Kraftverteilung sorgte f\u00fcr beeindruckende Traktion. In Kombination mit dem straff abgestimmten Fahrwerk katapultierte sich der Typhoon in unter 5.5 Sekunden auf 100 km\/h &#8211; schneller als ein Ferrari 348 oder ein Porsche 911 Carrera 2 jener Zeit. Diese Fakten machten ihn zur Legende, lange bevor der Begriff \u201ePerformance-SUV\u201c \u00fcberhaupt existierte.<\/p><p>Optisch war der Typhoon bewusst zur\u00fcckhaltend, aber brutal effektiv: Monochrome Lackierung, breitere Kotfl\u00fcgel, spezielle Stossf\u00e4nger, 16-Zoll-Alufelgen und ein reduziertes Erscheinungsbild ohne Chrom. Innen dominierte Schwarz, erg\u00e4nzt durch Sportsitze, Ladedruckanzeige und eine klare, funktionale Instrumentierung. Luxus war zweitrangig &#8211; Performance stand im Vordergrund.<\/p><p>Gesellschaftlich war der Typhoon seiner Zeit voraus. Er sprach Enthusiasten an, die Leistung wollten, ohne sich an klassische Sportwagen-Konventionen zu binden. Besonders in der US-Tuning- und Street-Racing-Szene erlangte er schnell Kultstatus. Zusammen mit dem Schwestermodell GMC Syclone bildete er eine eigene Klasse &#8211; kompromisslos, schnell und unbequem f\u00fcr die Konkurrenz.<\/p><p>Gebaut wurde der Typhoon nur 1992 und 1993, insgesamt 4\u2019967 Exemplare. Fahrzeuge in gutem, originalem Zustand sind heute echte Sammlerst\u00fccke. Der Typhoon gilt als Blaupause f\u00fcr alles, was sp\u00e4ter folgte: Porsche Cayenne Turbo, BMW X5 M oder Lamborghini Urus &#8211; sie alle schulden diesem GMC ihre Existenz.<\/p><p>Der 1993er GMC Typhoon ist damit nicht nur ein rares Fahrzeug, sondern ein St\u00fcck Automobilgeschichte.
