MG TF 1500
Description
A touch of nostalgia, pure driving pleasure and timeless elegance. The TF is the last and most powerful model in MG's legendary T-series and therefore a proper piece of British automotive history. With its striking design, curved fenders, classic radiator grille and elegant spoked wheels, it attracts admiring glances on every drive.
The «big» 1.5-liter engine delivers a full 63 hp and moves the lightweight body easily along our country roads. Every change of gear, every gas stroke, every bend becomes an invitation to focus on the essentials of driving. The sound is by no means restrained and makes any modern exhaust system look old.
The paintwork is in very good condition, as is the interior. True to the original in leather and wood, the interior has lost none of its 50s charm. The car starts immediately, runs smoothly and is surprisingly sporty to drive with its precise steering and crisp gearbox.
This MG TF 1500 is a rare classic for collectors, enthusiasts and, thanks to its simple design, technology and operation, also for beginners.

Model history
The history of the MG TF 1500 begins long before its actual birth. As part of the MG T series, which began in 1936 with the TA, the TF marked the end of an era - and at the same time an elegant transition to the modern MG generation.
The MG T series established the brand from Abingdon-on-Thames as a synonym for affordable, sporty roadsters. The TF was the final expansion stage of this line - a transitional form between the pre-war design and the curved lines of the later MGA.
Originally introduced in 1953 as the MG TF 1250, the model was technically closely related to the TD. However, head of design Sidney Enever gave the TF a flatter, sportier profile: the radiator grille was tilted slightly backwards, the headlights moved further into the fenders and the cockpit was given a smoother line. The hood was also lowered, giving the TF a much more modern look than its predecessors.
But it was above all the MG TF 1500 that attracted attention from mid-1954. The British responded to criticism of the somewhat sluggish performance of the 1250 - and increased the displacement of the familiar XPAG engine to 1,466 cc, creating the new XPEG engine. Output rose to 63 hp at 5,500 rpm and torque increased to 103 Nm - a noticeable improvement, especially in the lower rev range.
The chassis with transverse leaf suspension at the front and rigid axle at the rear was simple but solid. The steering - a rack and pinion design - was considered direct and precise. In combination with its low weight, the TF was surprisingly agile, even if not comfortable in the modern sense.
The interior offered purist charm: leather seats, wooden dashboard, large Smiths instruments - no superfluous gimmicks, just mechanical clarity. Doors and hoods could be secured with leather straps, and rain was warded off with an emergency hood and removable side windows.
In total, only 3,400 examples of the MG TF 1500 were built - making it significantly rarer than its predecessors. As early as 1955, production was discontinued in favor of the new MGA, whose modern design heralded a new era.
Today, the TF 1500 is considered a sought-after classic: it combines the traditional MG feel with a little more power and one of the most beautiful lines of the T-series. Whether as part of a collection, for drives or at British classic car meetings - this roadster is an elegant ambassador of past sportiness.
