Ford Mustang GT

Description

A true classic as it is written in the book - this 1965 Ford Mustang GT is not just an old car. It is a fully restored piece of automotive history, built in Wimbledon White and featuring the more powerful A-code V8 with 4-barrel carburetor and 4-speed manual transmission, which will make the heart of any classic car enthusiast beat faster.

This vehicle was completely dismantled with the utmost care and rebuilt down to the last screw. The original frame was of course retained, while the body, technology, interior and everything else was extensively restored or renewed. The result: a GT as it left the factory in 1965 - only better.

The powerful 289cc V8 delivers its sonorous sound as a matter of course and pulls cleanly through the entire rev range. The original 4-speed manual gearbox ensures a genuine driving experience - no automatic transmission, no filter in between, just you and the machine. The chassis, brakes and steering have been professionally overhauled and offer a safe, authentic driving experience. The new sports clutch is not for the faint-hearted, but can really take a beating.

Inside, you can expect a perfect, original white interior with new pony seats, carpets, door panels and original instrumentation - including Rally Pack. The Wimbledon White paintwork shines against the chrome, every edge fits, every line matches.

The underbody is unwelded and painted. New parts include the tank, brakes all round, springs, dampers, rubbers, bushes, exhaust system, steering and the Bluetooth radio with awesome audio system. The original air conditioning system is currently not connected, but it is ventilating and can be converted, filled and connected.

Model history

When the Ford Mustang was presented at the World's Fair in New York on April 17, 1964, Ford made automotive history. The first „pony car“ was born - compact, sporty, affordable and individually configurable. Within a few months, it was clear that this was not a niche vehicle, but a cultural phenomenon.

The first real model generation came onto the market with the 1965 model year (yes, there are also 1964.5s) - technically still very closely related to the Ford Falcon, but visually and emotionally a completely new car. The Mustang combined sporty design with everyday practicality, could be ordered as a fastback, convertible or coupé and thus appealed to a broad target group.

The Mustang GT offered here is one of the most sought-after versions: With the optional GT Package, the car received, among other things, front disc brakes, reinforced suspension components, dual exhaust system with tailpipes routed through the rear apron, special GT emblems, fog lights in the radiator grille and a sporty instrument layout.

Depending on the version, the 289 ci V8 produced up to 271 hp and was the engine of choice for ambitious drivers. Paired with the original 4-speed gearbox, this made the Mustang GT a genuine sports car - even if it often impressed more with style than raw power on the road.

The Mustang was designed under the direction of Lee Iacocca, chief strategist at Ford, with head of design Joe Oros and the legendary Gale Halderman as the key designer of the silhouette. Together they created a car that became immortalized in film, music and pop culture - at the latest since Steve McQueen chased through San Francisco in the Mustang GT Fastback.
