Corvette C5 Convertible
Description
The Corvette C5 - a car that leaves you with a grin on your face and a slight thrill in your stomach. The V8 engine roars like a hungry bear as soon as you start it up and when you accelerate for the first time, it feels as if you are being pressed into the seat by an invisible hand. The C5 literally sticks to the road and does what the driver demands without being impressed. The suspension is sporty and firm and the interior is surprisingly spacious, although getting in and out of the car is a rather acrobatic act, as is typical of sports cars. But honestly: who needs comfort when you're chasing through the bends with this much power? The C5 is not a gentle cruiser, but a straight-up fun-maker. It screams driving pleasure, not comfort. In short, if you're a bit of a maniac, you'll love this Corvette C5. And if you're not? Then you probably will.
This C5 as a convertible and in double black comes second-hand (for 18 years), is originally Canadian and is even a little more special than the base model. Firstly, it is equipped with a shortened 6-speed manual gearbox and secondly, the power has been increased to 405 hp thanks to a flap exhaust system, optimized electronics and a decent intake. The original exhaust system is included, but the sound is incredible - you can hear it well on the video.
To match the performance and sound, the car was fitted with stylish Fikse Mach 5 rims and registered. In addition, this C5 is slightly lower and has been equipped with adjustable stabilizers, steel-flex brake lines, perforated Wilwood brake discs at the front and Angel Eyes. The original parts and a number of service materials are also included. Inside, a modern and equally high-performance audio system was professionally installed, which usually remains switched off for obvious reasons.
A real steam hammer with a very successful look!

Model history
The Corvette C5, which was produced from 1997 to 2004, represents a significant step in the development of the American icon. With the 1998 model year, the Corvette reached its fifth generation, which was characterized by a series of technical innovations and a striking design. It was the first model to be based on the new platform, the so-called „Vehicle Architecture“ (VA). This architecture was a further development of the previous generation and enabled significantly better driving dynamics, as well as more rigidity and comfort.
The Corvette C5 was the first model in the series to use the new LS1 V8 engine from General Motors. This 5.7-liter engine offered an impressive 344 hp and a torquey 472 Nm, resulting in a significant increase in performance compared to the previous model. The LS1 was a modern, lightweight aluminum V8 that promised high efficiency and improved durability.
The C5 Corvette was the first to be equipped with a closed body made of plastic and a stable but lightweight chassis. This not only helped to reduce the overall weight, but also to improve torsional rigidity. Particularly noteworthy was the use of a specially developed, high-strength steel frame which, in conjunction with the plastic body, ensured outstanding driving stability and durability. The chassis geometry was also significantly enhanced: There was now a fully independent rear axle, which led to a noticeable improvement in handling.
The exterior design of the C5 Corvette was characterized by a much slimmer and more aerodynamic silhouette compared to the previous generation. The front end was more distinctive and the flat headlights, which contrasted with the upright headlights of the C4, gave the C5 a modern, aggressive look. The interior was also a decisive step forward: the quality of the materials was significantly improved and the equipment was now more contemporary, with a new instrument console and an ergonomic arrangement of the controls.
The C5 offered unbeatable value for money compared to its European rivals, making it a popular choice among sports car enthusiasts.
With a top speed of around 280 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in around 5.4 seconds, the Corvette C5 set new standards in its price class. It also remained at a high level in terms of comfort and equipment, which made it attractive both as a performance and touring vehicle.
Overall, the Corvette C5 is regarded as one of the best generations of the Corvette series and laid the foundation for the development of subsequent models.
